Matthew Smith

Viola, (Violin)

Matthew graduated from Newcastle University in Politics and History in 2007. Following that he obtained the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University and he now works as a property solicitor at Sweeny Miller Solicitors, Sunderland.

Matthew began playing the violin in 1995. Since then he has also attained high grades on the piano, and in 2007 took up the viola. Additionally Matthew is a keen composer, and his debut compositions White Light and Two Little Rondos were both performed by South Tyneside Senior Strings Orchestra, of which Matthew was formerly a member. More recently another quartet of his, the Quayside Quartet, performed his String Quartet in C Minor.

Matthew has performed for many occasions at countless venues across the UK and Europe, and is a former member of the Northumberland Orchestral Society, as well as a regular orchestral performer with local stage societies.
